Conference Connecting through Art!

“Connecting through Art” is a full-day event, organized by a Coalition of 10 members of the Anna Lindh Foundation Dutch Network, in the framework of the Network Activity of Anna Lindh Foundation in the Netherlands. The conference takes place on the 19th of June in the International Dance Theater, Kloveniersburgwal 87, Amsterdam.

Role of creative arts in superdiverse societies

The purpose of this event is to shed light on the role of creative arts in superdiverse societies within and across nations. In recent years, the cultural sector has been increasingly pressured by difficulties posed by the economic recession. But this is not to say that culture should be ignored and under-estimated– the creative arts play a prominent role in urban economics, but also in conflict resolution, national and cross-national communication, and community building.

National and international professionals help you experience the power of the creative arts through workshops and sessions on storytelling, music, dance, circus, and more. Themes of the interactive workshop are:

  • Public space: making use of the public space through creative arts.
  • Conflict areas: use of creative arts in diverse conflict areas to connect conflicting parties.
  • Cultural identity & Cultural Heritage: use of creativity and arts focusing on cultural identity as positive force to connect people rather than divide them.
  • Talent Development: use of creative arts for talent development of the users/participants to learn to communicate and connect with people from culturally diverse backgrounds.
